The Met Gala is usually held on the first Monday in May, but this year it was postponed due to COVID-19 and falls right in the middle of fashion month. Kicking off the event, fashion’s biggest night will be held at its usual location: the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The gala will be in celebration of the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” which opens to the public in the Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18th. 

On the red carpet, celebrity guests were expected to embody the theme of American style, whether through flashy, star-spangled ensembles, or more discreet nods to Americana motifs. 

This year's co-chairs include Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka, and Amanda Gorman, but there were plenty of other Hollywood A-listers walking the famous carpet that night as well.
